Monday (8/3) – Thursday (8/6): Videos online starting at 9:00am Thursday (8/6): Parking Lot Ice Cream celebration at 7:00pm!
Our VBS team has been hard at work planning a new, unique online VBS experience for this summer! We appreciate the feedback we received from our earlier survey. Here are all the details:
Dates: August 3-6
Format: Our VBS will be watchable through our church’s YouTube page or our church website. Each day at 9am, we encourage you to tune in for a “live” airing of that day’s VBS. If you can’t join us at 9am, the entire video will be viewable at your convenience anytime after 9. We will also upload each individual segment separately so that you can watch in bits and pieces if necessary. We are aiming to make each day’s full video length an hour (give or take).
You might be asking why I need to register if the videos will be on YouTube…
Packet Pick-Up: Good question! We will be distributing a packet to each participant with Imagination Station gizmos, supplies, coloring sheets and more. In order to properly prepare packets, we ask that you register ASAP to ensure that we have proper supplies. Registration will also help us communicate more accurately to all those involved. Even then, if anyone wants to join last minute they can still access all the videos without officially registering. Packets will be available to pick-up in the Covenant Presbyterian parking lot at the following times: Saturday, August 1 from 10am-12pm; Sunday, August 2 from 9:30am-10:00am.
Photo Opps: One of the things we will miss most about in-person VBS is seeing the kids’ smiling face and joy each day. We are going to create some way for parents to share photos with us as everyone has their at-home VBS fun. Look for more details to come.
Ice Cream Celebration: We are going to continue our tradition of having an evening ice cream celebration. In fact, it will be even more fun this year as we see everyone and share some VBS fun and laughs in person. This year’s ice cream celebration will be held on Thursday, August 6 from 7:00-8:00pm in the Covenant parking lot. The ice cream will be individually wrapped treats, not a self-serve buffet line as in the past. The rain date will be Friday, August 7. More details will be coming…and all of this is assuming we are still allowed to gather according to both state law and the church’s safety protocol.
Here are some more questions you may be asking…
What role do parents/grandparents/babysitters play? The answer really is as much or as little as you choose. We are trying to make our videos easy enough to understand for children without much help. But, we also truly believe that the more interaction, teaching, questions, etc. that adults can provide, the better! We hope this is not just a 60-90 minute time killer in front of a screen but a way for your whole family to learn more about the love of Jesus…and to have a lot of fun together.
I can’t pick up my packet on either date listed above. What now? We are willing to make individual arrangements for packets to be picked up at the church office at another time. Please email email@example.com.
I live out of town or I have others that may want to participate out of town. How can they get their packets? We are willing to ship a limited number of packets as needed. Recipients will need to pay the shipping cost. If you need to make these arrangements, please email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
How can we make this more interactive for our kids? The best idea we have heard is to invite a few friends, family, or neighbors over to watch together. You can have a VBS viewing party each morning and then continue to play and sing the day away!
Exactly what elements will an online VBS include? Each day will include VBS songs, a Bible verse of the day, a Bible buddy (animal) unique to the Rockies, a fun skit, Imagination Station gizmos which illustrate our Bible point, a KidVid story about how different children trust Jesus in unique ways, a Bible story, and more fun activities. Everything you need will be included in your at-home packet. We will also have a parent guide that makes it easy to know what’s going on each day and how to best help your kids enjoy VBS.
If I really want to get into VBS week, are there more ideas for snack and games? Yes! We are compiling a quick list of train-themed snacks and games so that you can continue the fun all day long. More details will be coming so you have time to shop.
